Doctor in Environmental Sciences (2004, University of Almeria). Postdoctoral experience in the Hoffman Environmental Research Institute (Western Kentucky University) .From 2006 to 2009 he worked as a Junior researcher of the Juan de la Cierva Program in the Laboratory of Applied Petrology (University of Alicante). Since 2009 he has been a postdoctoral resercher of the Department of Geology of the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC), linked to the Research Group: geo-environmental analysis in media hypogea, participating in numerous multidisciplinary studies covering various factors that influence the microenvironment of karst cavities and other karst environments not hypogea (geology, microclimate, geochemistry and geomicrobiology).

His recent scientific activity has been focused on the study of the exchange of matter and energy between the underground media and the external environment, with special detail in the flows of existing greenhouse gases (CO2 and CH4) between the atmosphere, soil and the Hypogeum atmospheres at different time-scales. He has participated in 7 research projects of the National Plan for R+D+I in these lines of research. He has worked on 24 research contracts with public institutions (Ministry of Culture, Junta de Andalucia, Junta de Extremadura or Junta de Castilla y León), intended for the study of integral conservation of caves and other underground environments that contain natural or cultural heritage of interest, for example: Altamira’s Cave, Castañar de Ibor’s Cave, Roman Necropolis of Carmona, karstic system of Ojo Guareña, Soplao’s Cave...
