Soledad Cuezva

Researcher at the Torres Quevedo Program (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, cofinanced by the European Social Fund)
Specialities: Petrology, Geochemistry, Microclimatic Studies and Geomicrobiology

Doctor in Geology for the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2008). Since 2002, she forms  part of the group of multidisciplinary investigation that Sergio Sanchez Moral directs from the Department of Geology, of the National Museum of Natural Sciences-CSIC, dedicated to the integrated study of underground environments. During this time and with help of diverse scholarships and contracts, she has collaborated in the study of several cavities in Spain such as Altamira's Cave (Cantabria), Cave of Castañar (Extremadura),  Painted Cave of Gáldar (Gran Canaria), Pozalagua's Cave (Pais Vasco), Santimamiñe's Cave (Pais Vasco), as well as Carmona's necropolis (Andalucia) and project of excavation of Djehuty's tomb (Egypt).

At present she develops her research activity in the Alicante University mainly focused on the study of the environmental dynamics of Altamira's Cave and the identification of the factors that provoke the deterioration of the artistic prehistoric representations and of the rock support, with the final aim to define the conditions that guarantee the conservation of the cave art.
